The first document testifying the existence of a rural property called “Terra Bianca,” meaning “white terrain” due to the light-colored soil, is dated 1085. The Terrabianca we all know, however, began nearly a thousand years later, in 1988, in the same location characterized by strata of chalk, sand and clay, predominantly calcareous. The property covers 307 acres of vineyards, olive groves, and woodland at an altitude of 820-1,640 feet above sea level. A second estate with an additional 260 acres was added in recent years, 43 miles away and close to Massa Marittima, in Maremma. The second property is called “Il Tesoro,” or “Treasure,” and is located in the mineral-rich Maremma area. Alongside Sangiovese, the property is home to Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, which are particularly suited to this distinct terroir. All grapes are transferred to Radda within 24 hours of picking, where they are vinified and bottled. Shortly after its modern-day foundation, the estate became a major Tuscan star and Terrabianca wines reaped countless accolades worldwide - both for their quality and the stunning design of labels and bottles. Could it be otherwise, given terroir, perfectionism, and star winemaker Vittorio Fiore? In tandem with the new owner, Baron de Ladoucette, Terrabianca continues to be steered at the hands of Francesco Russo, General Manager of Terrabianca. A resident of Tuscany, specifically the border of Chianti Classico area, since the young age of six, Francesco is knowledgeable in farming engineering. Wine and food have always been his passions, which he has turned into a profession.
