Benriach - Single Cask #8634 (UK Exclusive) 1997 19 year old Whisky

Released exclusively for the UK, this 19 year old BenRiach single malt enjoyed a finishing period in a cask that previously held dark rum. It was distilled in July 1997 and bottled in November 2016 following the aforementioned rum cask finishing. There are just 266 of these available. Tasting Notes Nose: Rum and coke with lime and mint cocktail, tropical fruit (pineapple and mango) raisin danish, peach flan with apricot glaze. Palate: Cinnamon and raisin bagels, ripe banana, some juicy and spicy acidity holding it all together with some more buttery caramel and butterscotch, fizzy coke bottles and a dusting of cocoa powder along with more of that mint and lime mix. Finish: Sweet and fizzy spice, rum and raisin chocolate and that dark and stormy/cube libre like note that was there at the start and continues into a moreish end. Ernest Hemmingway in Cuba of a Rum cask finished malt and as always with Benriach, beautifully balanced.
