Ledaig - Connoisseurs Choice 1998 15 year old Whisky
$397.99 price per bottle
Ledaig (or le-chig as some would have it) is the more heavily peated offering from the Tobermory distillery on the Isle of Mull and is a real Islay/peat freak fans delight. Nose: Sourkraut, vegetal/seaweed notes, juniper, white pepper, shellfish, pickled lime, salty fish skin, oyster shells, lemon thyme. Palate: A spicy and vegetal delivery (think green peppers with chilli flakes) Japanese bonito fish flakes, pink peppercorns, oily and salty on the mouthfeel, lime pickle, that sourkraut note again with some waxy citrus. Finish: Chilli oil on shellfish, seaweed or cabbage like notes, salted pink grapefruit, aromatic herbs. A real funky coastal offering from top indie bottle company Gordon & Macphail, liquid sourkraut anybody?
