The Buffalo Trace White Dog Mash #1 is an un-aged, unflavored Whiskey distillate that is bottled directly at barrel strength, thus preserving the full taste of a White Whiskey and making it the closest thing to a "legal" Moonshine. White Whiskey is also known as White Dog, White Mash, New Make and even White Lightning — a name referring to the jolt of lightning that follows after tasting it, and at 62. 5% ABV there will be some lightning, for sure. White Dog Mash #1 eventually becomes Buffalo Trace Bourbon. Tasting notes Appearance / Color Clear Aroma Rich and smooth. Bread dough, popcorn, toasted grains, apples and hints of tropical fruits. Palate Syrupy with sweet corn, fresh bread, heavy spice midway through, and a touch of barley. Oily texture. Finish Medium, with a good amount of warming heat, notes of salt and copper.
