Aging unpeated Bunnahabhain for over 28 years in carefully selected 31 hogshead and sherry butt casks, Wemyss distillery have created a non-chill filtered, rich, malty-sweet Islay whisky. COLOUR: Walnut NOSE: An initial aroma of cracked leather, dusty books and antique wood reveals the decades of cask maturation. Dark fruits, maraschino cherries and orange oil all develop like a gourmet Black Forest Gateau. PALATE: Full bodied and smooth with demerara coated walnuts and pecans mingling with plums, dates, banana bread and stick toffee pudding sauce. Hints of salinity and mineralic notes come through as salted caramel or waxy honey. FINISH: Mild spice hints of saffron, clove and nutmeg. Gentle wood smoke and salted caramel lingers for many seconds.
