Upon tasting this wine, it becomes immediately apparent that this isnt your standard Langhe Nebbiolo. The level of complexity and power here is more typical of what youd find in a Barbaresco, and thats kind of the secret of this wine. All of the fruit for this wine is coming from La Spinettas famed Starderi vineyard in Barbaresco but from the younger vines if twenty years is actually young, that is. The nose on this wine is broad and penetrating, with hints of fresh fruits, violets, and roses. Meanwhile, in the mouth it begins with a soft entrance, followed by gentle but persistent tannins. Id put this up against many a Barbaresco when it comes to drinking satisfaction.
